Victory Pushes Pioneers Record to 30-25
|
Vancouver beat Maple at Legends Park, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to left fielder Hiroya Shimada, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He scored 2 times. The winner was Tony Velázquez, who threw 110 pitches over 6.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 4 runs on 7 hits. Vancouver now sits in third place in the Thurman Munson League Billy Martin Division at 30-25.
Chipping in for Vancouver was catcher Baskoro Pamungkas. He stroked a 2-run single in the top of the third. For the game, Pamungkas went 1 for 4. He drove in 2 runs.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Pamungkas told the Vancouver Times. "It's as simple as that."
