Pelicans Hang 6-2 Loss on Emeralds
|
A nice crowd turned out to see the St. Petersburg Pelicans and Eugene Emeralds clash at Prefontaine Park.
Behind a solid performance from center fielder Omar Mora, the St. Petersburg Pelicans defeated the Eugene Emeralds, 6-2. Mora was 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Pelicans. St. Petersburg starter Nelson Cardona was credited with the win after throwing 89 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 4-5.
Mora had a key at-bat for St. Petersburg early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run. It was his 3rd home run of the season and gave St. Petersburg an early 2-0 lead.
"Winning makes the heart grow fonder -- for more winning," said Mora, cracking a smile.
At 27-44, the Pelicans find themselves in last place in the Donnie Moore League Dusty Baker Division.
