Escamilla Excels, But Black Squirrels Win
|
West Virginia right fielder Jesus Escamilla pounded Tree City Black Squirrels pitchers at Penlee Park, but it was not enough to keep the Dancin' Outlaws from falling, 15-6. Escamilla slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Tree City reliever Charlie Wife was credited with the win, to go to 3-0. Luis Mena took the loss for West Virginia. West Virginia, at 35-40, has lost 5 straight.
Tree City catcher Yasuo Sakamoto made his contribution to the Black Squirrels cause with a triple in the top of the second inning. For the day, Sakamoto went 2-4 with 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2.
"I hate to be the fly in the ointment," said Sakamoto, "but we could've played better."
