Black Squirrels Beat Dancin' Outlaws, 6-5
|
Tree City beat West Virginia at Penlee Park, escaping with a 6-5 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Ty Bedford, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 3 runs. The win was credited to Esteban Ruíz in relief. His record improves to 6-1. Orlando Guzmán took the loss. Tree City's record now stands at 41-30, placing them second in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division.
Dennis Perry, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with two out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a changeup from Orlando Guzmán for a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season put Tree City in front, 6-3.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Perry told the Tree City Daily.
