Hornets Down Pelicans, 4-3
|
In a tight contest at Hornets Field, the Bethesda Hornets edged the St. Petersburg Pelicans by the score of 4-3. Bethesda designated hitter Francisco Molina, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. Bethesda starter Gabriel Martínez was credited with the win after throwing 85 pitches over 6 innings. His record now stands at 4-11. Hiroshi Nagasawa, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 22nd save.
Bethesda grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Molina, who is tied for 5th in the AHL in home runs with 10, hit a run-scoring single. His 52nd hit of the season put the Hornets out in front, 4-3.
"Honestly, I'm not frustrated," said St. Petersburg manager Clement Snow. "The effort was great."
With the win, Bethesda has a record of 41-30. St. Petersburg falls to 26-42.
