Panthers Take Nail-Biter Over Mustangs

M嫞imo 聲gel was in top form in a low-scoring contest between Charleston and San Angelo. The Panthers right-hander was named the player of the game in Charleston's 1-0 win. Charleston reliever Bill Poulin picked up the win to move to 1-1. Sam Thomas suffered the loss. Charleston is now 34-37, while San Angelo is 38-31.
Marc Richards produced a go-ahead double for Charleston in the bottom of the tenth. With no one out and a runner on 2nd, Richards hit a run-scoring double off Sam Thomas. It put the Panthers in front, 1-0.
During his postgame press conference, Panthers manager 聲ibal Machado told reporters that he expected a tight game from the get-go. "This had the potential to go down to the wire, and it certainly didn't disappoint," he said, later quipping, "it might've been a little less nerve-racking if I had been watching the game from my couch!"
