Everton Mailes pitched well, but his team, the Houston Sting, still dropped a 1-0 decision to the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Billy Mathews Field. The win was credited to Adrian Bogle in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Everton Mailes took the loss. The Pelicans saw their record improve to 25-40.
St. Petersburg took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With no one out, third baseman Orrin Martell hit a solo home run that amped up the crowd.
"We did just enough to win," Martell said.
