|
Though he had a great game, Jorge Perez could not single-handedly produce a win for Boise. Nichols won the game, 3-1. Perez was named the player of the game. He went 2-2 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Arturo Gallegos earned the save for Nichols, his 4th of the year. Even with the win, the Gnats have a dismal 16-51 record.
In the top of the fourth, Danny Valencia had a big run-scoring single off Roberto Duran. With the single, the Nichols right fielder put his team in front, 2-1. He was 2-4 with a double in the contest.
In comments to the Nichols Daily News, Valencia admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
