Emeralds Stick Hornets with 6-3 Loss
|
With first baseman Jeff Fosbrink leading the charge, the Eugene Emeralds defeated the Bethesda Hornets, 6-3, at Prefontaine Park. Fosbrink, who is tied for 3rd in the AHL in home runs with 10, was 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs. Joaquín Salas, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 5-2. Andy Ryan earned the save, his 13th.
Luke Riviere played a key role in the win. The Eugene third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, Riviere went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Emeralds manager Tom Becker. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
