Vancouver starter Kenko Samurakami put a stranglehold on the Maple offense. The right-hander had complete command of his slider in leading the Pioneers to a 4-1 win. Samurakami, now 4-6, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Garry Strode earned the save, his 15th.

Dan Rollins didn't waste any time giving his team the lead. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a solo home run to put Vancouver on top, 1-0.

"Good pitching, clutch hitting," said Vancouver skipper Emmett Brown. "I can't complain."

With the win over Maple, the Pioneers improved to 29-25.
