Black Squirrels Slip Past Bel Air, 5-4
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels picked up a win at The Nut House, knocking off the Bel Air Princes, 5-4. Starting pitcher Jun Zhou, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The win was credited to Cory Kieck in relief. His record improves to 1-6. Lee Krause took the loss. The Black Squirrels sit in second place in the Donnie Moore League Tommy Lasorda Division with a record of 39-25.
Roberto Coronado provided some late-game drama. In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the bases loaded, Coronado hit a run-scoring triple. It helped Tree City take the lead and grab the win.
"This is truly a great team to play with," Coronado said after the game. "We're like brothers, and when we come together to pull out the win, that just makes it all the better."
