Cyclones Deal River Chiefs 7-5 Setback
|
Chippewa got a terrific game from shortstop Alex Bahena. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Coney Island, 7-5. Bahena was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The Cyclones saw their win-loss record go to 28-32. At the same time, the River Chiefs fell to 35-25.
Larry Zimmerman gave Coney Island a good at-bat in the bottom of the seventh inning. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single to help send Coney Island to the win.
Zimmerman told the Coney Island Citizen: "I was born for the big stage."
