Kyuji Aoki pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws, despite Aoki's fine outing, dropped a 2-0 decision to the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Penlee Park. Jim Unknown picked up the save for St. Petersburg, his 1st of the year. With the win, the Pelicans improved to 23-36.

Flexing his muscles for St. Petersburg was Jose Rivera. The designated hitter had a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth for the Pelicans. It put his team ahead, 2-0, and sent them on to victory. For the game, Rivera went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"A great game, a great day," said Rivera about the win. "I can't complain."
