Vikings Best Mustangs in Pitching Duel
|
In a tight game between the San Angelo Mustangs and the Victoria Vikings, nobody was more important for the winners than Larry Franzen. Franzen, who received player of the game accolades for the Vikings, was masterful in the 2-0 win. Victoria reliever Andy Dasher was the winner. His record is now 1-2. The losing pitcher was Cliff McDaniel. Gang Niu earned the save, his 15th, for the Vikings.
Franzen contributed when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the sixth. Coming with two outs and the bases loaded, the single proved to be critical to helping Victoria get the win.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said Victoria manager Bernardo Moreno.
Victoria currently is in first place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division at 36-22.
