In a low-scoring tilt between the San Angelo Mustangs and the Victoria Vikings, Omar Mendez was the difference-maker. The San Angelo right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. San Angelo reliever Sam Thomas picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Gang Niu shouldered the loss. San Angelo is now 31-24.
Both teams had trouble scoring runs. So, Ignacio Aguilar's at-bat in the top of the ninth was crucial. With no one out, the San Angelo pinch hitter drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 3-2 lead.
