The Eugene Emeralds took Houston pitcher Dane Manwaring's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Prefontaine Park. The final score had Eugene getting past the Sting, 4-3. Manwaring went 5 innings and allowed no earned runs, striking out 5. The Emeralds saw their record improve to 22-33.

Luke Riviere found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Houston hurler Morgan Hassell, the 20-year-old third baseman hit a run-scoring single. His 45th hit of the season put the Emeralds on top, 4-3.

"I still have a lot of confidence in this team," Eugene manager Tom Becker said afterward.
