Francisco González did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Victoria Vikings from losing, 5-3, to the Bethesda Hornets at Hornets Field. González was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Layne Farmer picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-0. Andy Dasher was tagged with the loss. Hiroshi Nagasawa nailed down his 18th save.

Had Tetsui Ohayashi not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Ohayashi hit a run-scoring triple. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Hornets.

"This was a good win," said Ohayashi.

Bethesda is now 31-22, Victoria 30-21.
