Panthers Get Close Win Over Bums
|
The Panthers grabbed a win, 5-3, at Envoys Ballpark, overcoming a fine effort from Palm Beach pitcher Ernesto Trevino. Trevino went 5 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Charleston reliever Greg Martin picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. Eduardo Muniz shouldered the loss. Raúl Garza recorded his 5th save for Charleston.
Michael Carew, who is tied for 5th in the BOL in stolen bases with 22, aided the Charleston cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth. For the game, the shortstop was 1 for 3 with 2 walks.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Carew said.
The win puts the Panthers at 22-27, while the Bums drop to 25-26.
