Chippewa starter Jeff Stephens pitched effectively against the Barrow Frosties at The Blizzard Bowl. The right-hander led his team to a 7-0 win. Stephens, now 6-0, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing no earned runs. Cisco Cantú got credit for the save for Chippewa. It was his 3rd of the year.
Elijah Brown helped his team jump on top from the get-go. His first time up in the top of the first, he cranked a 2-run home run to give Chippewa a 2-0 lead.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Stephens.
Chippewa, at 29-20, sits in second place in the Lyman Bostock League Dick Williams Division.
