The first-place Rubber City Rhinos welcomed San Diego to The Rubber Grounds.
Rubber City got a first-rate effort from pitcher Tom Hanson, who frustrated San Diego hitters en route to a 3-0 Rhinos triumph at The Rubber Grounds. Shinzo Sasaki converted his 11th save in 15 tries.
Hanson, a native of Delphos, Ohio, was dealing all game. He kept San Diego hitters off-balance, while giving the Rhinos 8 quality innings. Hanson threw 102 pitches, allowing 4 hits and striking out 7.
"Tom was pounding the zone," said Rubber City manager Larry Johnson.
At 34-21, Rubber City is in first place in the Roberto Clemente League Christian Latulippe Division.
