Southland Leads Charge, Tree City Blasts Gnats
|
The Tree City Black Squirrels got production from their entire lineup in an easy 13-1 win over the Nichols Gnats. Player of the game honors went to catcher Mark Southland. Southland, who is tied for 3rd in the AHL in bases on balls with 38, was 3-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice. The slumping Gnats have lost 6 straight.
The game turned with no one out in the top of the fourth when Southland, who is tied for 3rd in the AHL in bases on balls with 38, hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the Black Squirrels into the lead, 3-0.
"We had that killer instinct," Southland said after the game.
