Chippewa wasted a solid 5-inning effort from starting pitcher Ben Crabb, losing to Brisbane, 1-0, at The Reservation. James Stevens got the win, improving to 2-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 7 hits and no runs, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Danny Posada nailed down his 6th save.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the top of the sixth, with the game tied, John Pinnock was at the plate when Brisbane scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Bush Wackers to go in front, 1-0.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Bruce Leah.
The River Chiefs, now 26-19, have lost 4 in a row.
