The Houston Sting topped the New Orleans Jedi Knights, 6-2, with second baseman Toshio Matsuzaki playing a big role. Matsuzaki was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 2 times for the Sting in the win. Shih-k'ai Mi earned his 1st save in 1 tries. New Orleans's current losing streak is now 5 games.

The Jedi Knights had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Sting going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 21-year old right fielder Steve Pollard came to the plate. Pollard hit a 2-run triple on a first pitch slider from New Orleans hurler Fred Antoine. It was Pollard's 1st triple of the year.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Matsuzaki told the Houston Today.
