Dancin' Outlaws Roll to 9-2 Win Over Pelicans
|
West Virginia and St. Petersburg got after it at Billy Mathews Field.
The West Virginia Dancin' Outlaws knocked off the St. Petersburg Pelicans, 9-2, at Billy Mathews Field. Egbert Peper, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason West Virginia won. The third baseman was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win was credited to Takeo Takano in relief. His record improves to 7-4. José Carlos Ramírez took the loss.
Peper was 2-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 against the Pelicans. In the top of the first inning, he hit a 2-run home run that scored 2 and put West Virginia in front, 2-0.
"We'll keep our chins up and get ready for the next game," said losing manager Clement Snow.
West Virginia bumps their record to 24-23 with the win.
