Blue Claws Fall Short, 3-2, at Charleston
|
The Charleston Panthers got a stellar performance from pitcher Freddy Aguilar, who handcuffed the Baltimore offense en route to a 3-2 win at Franklin Mountains Field. Charleston reliever David Stafford picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Yoshiiku Kikuchi shouldered the loss. The save was credited to Raśl Garza, his 3rd.
Had Augusto Reyes not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Reyes hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Panthers.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Baltimore manager Bernard Jacq.
The win puts the Panthers at 18-25, while the Blue Claws drop to 28-16.
