Cyclones Beat River Chiefs, 6-2
|
The exploits of center fielder Steve Woods helped the Coney Island Cyclones defeat the Chippewa River Chiefs, 6-2. Woods was 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. The third-place Cyclones raised their record to 21-22.
In the top of the fourth inning of a 1-1 tie, Coney Island second baseman Bill Ottinger hit a run-scoring single. It broke the deadlock and put Coney Island on top, 2-1.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Ottinger told the Coney Island Citizen.
