Gnats Go Down to Defeat, 5-1
|
The Boise Bloodhounds went home winners at The Pond, thanks in large part to starter Tomas Fuentes. Fuentes silenced the Nichols Gnats, enabling Boise to grab the 5-1 win. In 6 innings, Fuentes surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Even with the win, the Bloodhounds have a dismal 13-29 record.
Carlos Carranza, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with no one out in the top of the sixth. That's when he connected on a fastball from Ruben Abreu for a solo home run. His 1st home run of the season put Boise in front, 2-1.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Fuentes said.
