Head, Knights Too Much for River Chiefs
|
The Kingwood Knights topped the Chippewa River Chiefs, 9-6, with youngster Eric Head playing a key role. Head was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3 for the Knights in the win. The winner was Colin Cole in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Eddie Zuniga took the loss. The Knights saw their win-loss record go to 19-21. At the same time, the River Chiefs fell to 26-16.
Kingwood left fielder Earl George had a game-changing at-bat in the top of the eighth. On a sinker from Eddie Zuniga, he launched a 2-run home run. It gave Kingwood a 8-6 lead.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said George.
