Ernesto Trevino pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Palm Beach Bums, despite Trevino's fine outing, dropped a 3-0 decision to the St. Petersburg Pelicans at Envoys Ballpark. The last-place Pelicans are now 16-23, the Bums 19-22.

The Pelicans got a lift from second baseman Adrian Sparks, who in the top of the fourth hit a 2-run single. His 27th hit of the season put the Pelicans on top, 3-0.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Palm Beach skipper Juan Carlos Serrano, "and it cost us."
