Eugene Emeralds starter Francisco Bibian turned in a top-notch performance against the Houston Sting at Woodland Park. The result was a win for the Emeralds, 3-2. Jim Unknown finished the game for Eugene and earned his 1st save. The 4th-place Emeralds improved to 16-22.

Runs were scarce in this one. So, Joe Coleman's at-bat in the top of the 11th was vitally important. With two out, the Eugene first baseman hit a run-scoring single, to give his team a 3-2 lead.

"This is a resilient bunch," said Eugene manager Tom Becker.
