Mustangs Best Bloodhounds in Pitching Duel
|
Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium was the site of a exceptional pitchers' duel.
In a well-pitched game between the San Angelo Mustangs and the Boise Bloodhounds, pitcher Charlie Haydon was superb. The San Angelo right-hander was named the player of the game in San Angelo's 2-1 win. Haydon went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 2, and struck out 10. His record improves to 5-2.
The Mustangs beat the Bloodhounds with some clutch hitting. The double by Lane Renouf in the bottom of the second is a good example. With two down, Renouf gave his team the lead, 2-0, when he came through with the big hit.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Boise manager Nick Brown. "Obviously."
The Mustangs, at 20-13, sit in second place in the Lyman Bostock League Earl Weaver Division.
