Warriors Win at Nichols, 8-3
|
Benefiting from Alex Velez's productive game, the Winfield Warriors downed the Nichols Gnats, 8-3. Velez went 2 for 5 with a home run, while adding 6 RBI and scoring once for the Warriors. Ignacio Ramírez got the win, improving to 2-0. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 1 hits and no runs, while striking out 8 and walking 4. The win lifts Winfield to a record of 17-15.
The Warriors picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Velez told the Winfield Citizen.
