The Victoria Vikings got a magnificent effort from pitcher Iemitsu Shiroi, who kept San Angelo hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Vikings win at Heartland Kettlecorn Stadium. Shiroi got the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 3 hits and walked 1 over 6 innings. Shiroi allowed no earned runs. With the loss, San Angelo drops to 18-13.
Victoria took the lead with one out in the top of the second when Germán Barrera stroked a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0 in favor of Victoria. For the day, Barrera was 1-2. He drove in 2 runs.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Barrera said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
