Late Rally by Knights Secures Win
|
The Kingwood Knights faced a tough opponent in Charleston pitcher Aaron Buckley, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Stable Park by a final score of 5-3. Buckley went 5.2 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Kingwood reliever Steve Cherry picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-2. John Patterson was collared with the loss. The loss drops Charleston to 15-16.
The Knights were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when third baseman Paul Dannemiller turned a 3-1 cutter from John Patterson into a 3-run home run. The walk-off home run sent a roar through the crowd and gave Kingwood a thrilling 5-3 win.
"It's great to get the crowd pumped up," Dannemiller said.
