Houston Wins, Matsuzaki 3-4
|
Houston and Bel Air duked it out at Philip Banks Field and the Sting came out victorious.
Riding the 3-hit performance of the 22-year old second baseman Toshio Matsuzaki, the Houston Sting stopped the Bel Air Princes, 5-2. Houston reliever Dani Sánchez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Alex Nambo shouldered the loss. Cameron Sullivan, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Had Matsuzaki not come through in the top of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Matsuzaki hit a 3-run home run. The Sting never looked back after taking the 4-2 lead.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Matsuzaki.
The win brings the Sting to 12-20, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
