Ben Crabb never let the Saints get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his curveball, to pitch the River Chiefs to a 4-1 win. Brad Ide earned the save for Chippewa, his 8th of the year. Chippewa improves to 18-13 as they look to defend their championship.

The outcome was still in doubt with two out in the top of the third inning, but Crabb was able to pitch out of a jam. With the bases loaded and St. Paul trailing 1-0, Crabb retired Al Nichol, who flied out.
