Republic Drop Sasquatch, 5-4
|
The So Cal Republic beat the Seattle Sasquatch, 5-4 at House of the Republic, in part due to right fielder Gerd Zabel, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs. Pin-zhen Au recorded his 12th save for So Cal. The third-place Republic now have a 4-game winning streak.
In the bottom of the 7th, second baseman Donald Latulippe gave So Cal the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Republic had been trailing 4-3, but the two-out single off Seattle pitcher Kirk Redman changed that -- and So Cal went on to win.
"Both teams played hard," said So Cal manager Munenori Sato.
