In a low-scoring game between the Baltimore Blue Claws and the Eugene Emeralds, pitcher John Ketchum was masterful on the mound. The Baltimore left-hander was named the player of the game in Baltimore's 1-0 win. Picking up the save was Ramón Martínez, his 5th. The Blue Claws, now 19-9, have been on a roll in the early going.

A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Colin Carpenter was at the plate when Baltimore scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Blue Claws to go in front, 1-0.

"There was no wiggle room in this one," said Ketchum.
