|
Charleston Panthers starter Enrico Avalos was in fine form against the Bethesda Hornets at Hornets Field, leading his team to a 5-4 win. The winning pitcher was Avalos, now 1-2. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Marlin Bryan closed it out for his 1st save.
Michael Carew contributed to the Charleston win. The 23-year old second baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the third. For the game, Carew went 2-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Charleston manager Ánibal Machado.
The loss drops Bethesda to 14-13.
