Knights Bridle Sting, 3-2
|
The Kingwood Knights beat the Houston Sting, 3-2 at Woodland Park, in part due to left fielder Earl George, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Kingwood reliever Matt Fernandez picked up the win, upping his record to 4-0. Richard Sinclair shouldered the loss. Takuya Funaki closed the game out for Kingwood, earning his 2nd save.
Bill Heller went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk for Kingwood. The 21-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the top of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Richard Sinclair. It was his 8th RBI of the season.
"We were in it," said Houston manager Héctor Flores. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The Sting fall to 10-15 and continue their uneven start to the 2032 season.
