Though he had a great game, Evan Marks could not single-handedly produce a win for Winfield. Baltimore won the game, 3-2. Marks was named the player of the game. He went 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk. Baltimore reliever Michael Burman picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Esteban Sánchez shouldered the loss. Ramón Martínez closed it out for his 4th save.
In the bottom of the seventh inning of a 2-2 tie, Baltimore center fielder Justin Nance hit a sacrifice fly. It broke the deadlock and put Baltimore on top, 3-2.
"We were in it," said Winfield manager Eric Stone. "We just didn't score enough runs."
The Blue Claws, now 16-8, have played some good baseball in the early going.
