Tornadoes Top Rhinos, 5-4
|
Rubber City catcher Pete Bell was sensational. He went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Kansas City beat the Rhinos, 5-4. Bell was named the player of the game despite the loss. Bill Daniels closed the game out for Kansas City, earning his 11th save. Kansas City is 21-32 and Rubber City, with the loss, 33-20.
One important at-bat came with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning. Facing Rubber City hurler Vincent Vickers, Franklin Gray hit a run-scoring single. The Tornadoes went on to win.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Tornadoes manager Glenn Rowe. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
