Tight Tilt Goes to Road Warriors, 3-2
|
The Road Warriors grabbed a win, 3-2, at Billy Mathews Field, overcoming a fine effort from St. Petersburg pitcher Nelson Cardona. Cardona went 5.1 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. The save was credited to Chris Bacon, his 5th. The Pelicans fall to 8-11 and continue their uninspiring start to the 2032 season.
Rich Nightingale had a nice at-bat for the Road Warriors with two out in the top of the sixth. With the bases loaded, the right fielder drew a walk, driving in 1 run, which would prove important in the Westside win.
"We were in it," said St. Petersburg manager Clement Snow. "We just didn't score enough runs."
