Cyclones Drop Panthers with Late Score

The Cyclones had to overcome a good performance from Charleston pitcher Manny Cortés to claim a 5-2 win at Franklin Mountains Field. Cortés went 5.1 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Picking up the save was Jamie Morgan, his 4th. Coney Island goes to 9-5 with the win.
Runs were few and far between in this one. So, Carlos Gonzalez's at-bat with one out in the top of the ninth was crucial. The Coney Island center fielder hit a 3-run home run, to give his team a 5-2 lead.
"It was a good effort all around," said Gonzalez.
