Saints Ballpark was the site of a competitive game between the Baltimore Blue Claws and St. Paul Saints.
The bats were silent much of the day at Saints Ballpark. But Jeff Bettcher conjured up just enough offense to carry the Saints past the Baltimore Blue Claws, 3-2. Bettcher was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Craig Wyman earned the save for St. Paul, his 3rd.
Phil Evans had a nice at-bat for the Saints with one out in the bottom of the fourth. With the bases loaded, the second baseman hit a sacrifice fly, which would prove important in the St. Paul win.
"We put some tough at-bats on some tough pitches," said St. Paul manager Ismael Rodríguez.
St. Paul is now 6-8.
