Houston designated hitter Neal Thacker made his presence felt in the 8-4 Sting triumph over the Tree City Black Squirrels. Thacker hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Marco Cruz nailed down his 3rd save. With the loss, Tree City falls to 6-7.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Sting grabbed the lead when Toshio Matsuzaki rapped a two-out home run. Houston was trailing 3-2, when Matsuzaki hit a 2-run home run off Ryan Davis to put his team in front, 4-3.
"Being able to play a game for a living is one thing. Being able to play it well and contribute to a win is even better," Thacker told the Houston Today.
