The Chippewa River Chiefs and starting pitcher Luis García stifled the Coney Island offense en route to a comfortable 8-1 win at The Reservation. García, the winner, moves to 1-1. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up 3 walks. The River Chiefs are off to an underwhelming start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 3rd win in 13 games.

The fans who came in support of the River Chiefs were pleased with the outcome. It was what they had hoped for when they passed through the turnstiles at The Reservation.
