St. Petersburg first baseman Bill Riel played a vital role in his team's 6-2 triumph over West Virginia. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for St. Petersburg. The Pelicans are off to a tough start, getting just their 4th win in 11 games.
Tim Beeman played a key role in the win. The St. Petersburg left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, Beeman was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Beeman told the St. Petersburg Daily.
