In a low-scoring affair between the Nichols Gnats and the San Angelo Mustangs, pitcher David Rivera was the difference between victory and defeat. The Nichols right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-1 Gnats win. Chris Eddy picked up the win, improving his season record to 1-1. He struck out 2 in 5 innings. The Mustangs fall to 4-5 and continue their wobbly start to the 2032 season.
With Nichols leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Rivera hit a fastball from Cliff McDaniel for a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Gnats ahead, 2-0.
Afterward, Gnats manager Reese O'Higgins was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
