River Chiefs Pick Up 5-3 Win
|
The Chippewa River Chiefs and Coney Island Cyclones completed their game despite the rain.
The Chippewa River Chiefs stopped the Coney Island Cyclones, 5-3, at The Reservation. The River Chiefs got a big game from Chris Reddy, who was 1-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Chippewa reliever Juan Lara, now 2-1. The loser was Takamasa Oki.
Reddy had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the sixth. On a 1-1 fastball from Takamasa Oki, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the River Chiefs a 5-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Reddy.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Chippewa manager Bruce Leah. "It's usually not just one thing."
Things have gone south in a hurry for the defending champion River Chiefs, who notched only their 2nd win in 10 games.
